TOP MALLORCA WEDDING CATERING TRENDS IN 2024

As another wedding season draws to a close, it’s good to look back and review the catering
trends we witnessed in 2024, with a keen eye on planning for 2025. Delicioso is very proud
to have played our part in another successful season.

Desire for sustainability and more focus on sourcing local products

In 2024, sustainability was a keyword and very much a top priority for couples planning their
wedding. With a growing desire to support local farmers and producers, a lot of emphasis
was placed on ensuring key ingredients were fresh, seasonal with minimal environmental
impact. As a caterer, Delicioso has increasingly focussed on the concept of Farm to Fork,
where everything is produced locally. Mallorca is famous for its fabulous fresh foods, and
sourcing the best comes naturally to the Delicioso team; this also helps the local economy
and results in authentic dishes packed full of flavour.

Bespoke and personalised Menus by Delicioso

In 2024 we saw couples arranging their wedding specifically to reflect their personalities and
tastes, which of course extended to their catering choices. There was a significant demand
for bespoke and personalized menus. Whether it was a fine Paella, or a more casual
Barbeque event, this trend allowed us to get creative and create something truly
memorable.

One bite canapes

The desire for clean one bite canapes continued…. And we have seen a continued high
demand for locally inspired dishes like Tapas, Pa Amb Oli or Coca; this is always pleasing to
our Mallorcan head Chef Xisco who is proud of his national heritage.

Experience-driven catering

Weddings in 2024 have been more than just good food; it has very much been about
creating unforgettable experiences. Experience-driven catering is all about engaging the
senses and making food a central part of the celebration. From interactive stations where
guests can watch their meals being prepared, to gourmet grazing tables that invite
exploration and indulgence, the emphasis is on making dining an integral part of the
wedding day experience. Our Menus offer ‘show cooking stations’ with delicious
possibilities like The Spanish Station or The Sea Station. Culinary theatre is something that
will linger in the minds of guests for many years to come.

Intimate Gatherings and Micro Weddings

The trend towards intimate gatherings and micro weddings continued to grow in 2024. Very
often, couples chose quality over quantity, focussing on a smaller guest list that allowed for
a more definitive, personalized experience. This shift has enabled caterers like us to offer
more intricate and high-end menus, with even greater attention to detail. 2024 showed us
that it is not always about adhering to tradition, sometimes it’s about doing things in a
small very personalised manner.

Global Fusion flavours

Head Chef Xisco may hail from Mallorca, but he is also very accomplished in preparing Asian
cuisine. This proved to be a big advantage for Delicioso In 2024, as couples became
increasingly adventurous with their menu choices. Quite often, couples opted for global
fusion flavours that reflected their personal tastes and cultural backgrounds. This trend of
Asian inspired street food and Mediterranean mezze allowed the team at Delicioso, to
experiment with different cuisines and create exciting, diverse menus that offer our clients a
culinary journey around the world.

Alcohol Free and low Alcohol options

With the rise of health-conscious lifestyles, there has been a noticeable increase in the
demand for alcohol-free and low alcohol options at weddings. We offer Mocktails, and
alcohol-free wine, with low-alcohol options becoming staples at wedding receptions. This trend very much aligns with the broader movement towards wellness and mindful consumption…. Less hangovers all round.

Grazing tables and Charcuterie Boards

Grazing tables and charcuterie boards took the wedding catering scene by storm in 2024.
Here in Mallorca, Charcuterie is in our DNA, and so it is natural for us at Delicioso to prepa
these visually stunning setups offering a variety of artisanal cheeses, delicious hams, fresh
fruits, nuts, and gourmet crackers. It’s a simple concept, but something that adds an
informal element to the wedding feast, encouraging guests to mingle and enjoy a variety of
flavours.

Dessert Tables and late-night snacks.

Gone are the days when a fancy wedding cake was the star of the dessert show…. In 2024,
couples demanded something more akin to an assiette of desserts for their guests in line
with their personal taste. Macarons, mini tarts, Tiramisu, Eton mess and much more.
Finally for 2024, the late-night snack table featured very highly on the ‘definite’ list,
providing guests with a little sustenance to keep the celebration going. From Tacos, mini
burgers and hot dogs, Delicioso has delivered some delicious bites that has kept many a
guest on the dance floor.
